Pastor Katie and her Family
Rev. Kathryn (Katie) Treadway is a native Floridian who was born and raised in Bradenton. Katie received her B.A. in Religion and Psychology from Belmont University in May of 1995. She graduated from Vanderbilt University Divinity School with a Masters in Divinity in 2001 and was ordained in November 2001. Since that time she has served the Brookhaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church as Director of Christian Education. Her pastoral work there included implementing a rotation model Sunday School and VBS (Vacation Bible School) leadership including writing a curriculum. Rev. Treadway also was responsible for confirmation classes, weekly youth meetings, and children meetings. She led its adult lenten study, assisted with leadership in worship, and lead special worship services. In the summer of 2003, Katie was honored by being named chaplain of the Birthplace Shrine of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Montgomery Bell State Park. While there, she did visitations and conducted worship services on Sunday morning in the chapel.
She is accomplished in the area of music. She has a love for the piano and was formally trained in music through the college level. Katie enjoys singing alto in choral groups and looks forward to sharing her talents with our choir. In addition to her musical skills, she also loved arts and crafts, especially making things for her children. Katie also enjoys being outdoors and has developed a keen interest in gardening.
On the pastoral side, she enjoys helping people discover new ideas about God through Bible study and theological debates. Rev. Treadway truly enjoys preaching which has allowed her to learn more deeply about God's love and grace while creating a way to communicate the "good news" to her listeners. She enjoys traditional worship and loves the substance the tradition brings.
Katie and her husband Bill have been married for 12 years. Bill also has a Masters in Theological Studies and formerly was the editor of the Upper Room home website before relocating in Florida. They are proud parents of two daughters, Hannah, 8 and Kaia 6. Both girls favorite hobbies include tumbling and cheerleading.
The Lord has led her to SLPC and we are blessed.
