Poems by hleon

Everyone in the church knows Doc Decker, our very own poet who can turn any situation — whether it is a happy occasion, recruiting for the choir, or appealing for funds to replace an ancient air conditioner or a new roof — into a poem.

We have published some of his poetry about our church for your enjoyment!

      • A Fond Goodbye: Written for the departure of Interim Pastor, Don Davis in 2004.

      • Our Church: Written for the departure of Interim Pastor, Carl Bennett in 2003.

      • Our Choir: Written for the occasion of recruiting new choir members.

      • Membership, Outreach, and Evangelism: Regarding the important ministry of this committee.

      • Stewardship 2003: No explanations needed.

      • Annoying But Necessary: Written for Stewardship-Pledge Day 2004.

      • Your Old Cool Friend: Written about the impending demise of the 25 year old air conditioner.

      • Enjoyment: Written 2/3 of the way through the air conditioning campaign.

      • Great Day: Hallelujah! The air conditioning fund has met its goal.

      • Demise of the Old Roof: Written about the condition of our 27 year old roof.

      • Funds for Our New Roof: Written about the appeal for a new roof campaign.

      • Caring: The roof fund is complete. The new roof was installed just in time before the hurricanes. Gratefully, we were one of very few churches that sustained no roof damage.
Thank you. Thank You!! THANK YOU!!!!

      • NEW! Trust: One of the most valuable of life's lessons.
